Project : Around Town (Infographic Poster)
Infographics / Poster Design

About The Project

Around Town was the first exploration of the threshold where graphic meets text; the elements not only converying information, but illustrated into the message iself.

The poster aims at delivering an overview of a 30-day period, where activity could be quantified and conveyed graphically. Activity data would be logged by paper as well as by a tracking app. Data would be qualified by aspects of duration, frequency, ... while each set of data could be conveyed through graphic themes denoted by their specified activity. ⤶

The Subject

Despite the graphic application, the project aimed at creating an effect by theme, where educators would gain a quick sense of lifestyle, completing a wholeness in the conyed sense of the student by providing habitual information, which could coincide with their programs, specifically providing data on coping mechanisms, effort and balance levels throughout the phases of courses. Greater honesty providing greater results, despite potential exposure.

Basic Shapes

Though others have boldly and gently gone before me, I decided to pull my Helvetica card for the wayfinding blocks of text, on my route to explore basic shapes that would read without complexity, and allow for nuance when read as a whole.

The complexity of the data inspired minimal shapes, where meaning between them would be implied as the data representations were viewed holistically – here inspiring the shapes conveying elements of a city scape.

The Data

Statistics capture targetted aspects of daily life "Around Town", including work, sleep, activity, and consumption patterns, to be re-assembled into the poster's design format.

Data was captured for 30 weeks, utilizing a time tracking app, where each item displayed on the poster would need to be meticulously tracked throughout the timeframe.
